MORE KATRINA QUILTS - Sue Van Vorhees, May 2006
FCQ Member Sue Vorhees made a second trip to Ocean Springs, Mississippi, in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina and she brought with her quilts made by our members.
Lorna works at an art museum store in Ocean Springs. Her house was extensively damaged and her husband died about 6 months after the storm. She is still grieving and confused about how to cope and what to do next. Her job keeps her going, but she feels so alone.
Lorna received a large "Love Quilt" made by a team of Faithful Circle Quilters. She loved the colors and hugged me when I gave it to her. Through her tears she said, "You don't know how happy this makes me. I think I can go on. Every time I look at this quilt I will remember that things will get better. You are angels!"
