MORE KATRINA QUILTS - Sue Van Vorhees, May 2006
FCQ Member Sue Vorhees made a second trip to Ocean Springs, Mississippi, in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina and she brought with her quilts made by our members.
Joyce was thrilled to receive a new quilt, and immediately put it on her bed. She particularly loves the flowers since she is a gardener and serves on the flower guild at her church in Ocean Springs. This beautiful machine pieced quilt was donated FCQ member, Jean Savalchak
After the storm, water damage extended 8 feet high in Joyce's home. Yet she considers herself lucky to have a house which can be repaired. She and her husband finally found a contractor who sends workers on an irregular schedule for a few hours each week. Nothing is dependable, but after nine months, the end is in sight.
