MORE KATRINA QUILTS - Sue Van Vorhees, May 2006

FCQ Member Sue Vorhees made a second trip to Ocean Springs, Mississippi, in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina and she brought with her quilts made by our members.

Meet Jan whose small ranch home is finally dry and its wallboard totally removed nine months after the storm.

Jan receives her quilt from Sue Van Voorhees who worked on Jan's house. This quilt was made especially by FCQ member Sue Campise, a superb applique artist who wanted to send her heart(s) to help heal. And indeed, they did just that with smiles, love, and joy.

A very surprised Jan said, "Oh, you don't need to give me anything--you've been working here all day. How beautiful; something fresh and new!" She liked the colors so much, she has decided to use the quilt's palette when she repaints her room.
