Demo Schedule - 2008 Quilt Show

Thursday, April 17

11:30 am Bargello Quilts - Genie Corbin
Bargello quilts are easier than you think! In this demo, Genie will give step-by-step instructions for choosing fabric and making two identical strip sets. Then you'll help her cross-cut the strip sets into bargello strips of varying widths, and lay them out to make a 45-inch long bargello baby quilt or wall hanging.

1:30 pm Tucks and Pin-Tucks: Adding interest to your quilts - Eleanor Fabiszak
Add dimension and texture to your quilts though the use of tucks and pin-tucks. Tucks are easy to do and can be sewn by beginning quilters successfully on their first try. Pin-tucks require a special foot and sewing machine needle but they are also easy to do once you know how.

3:30 pm Designing on Fabric with Stamps - Linda Bernard
Stamping on fabric allows you to play with design and color that is all your own style. Make your own designs just for the fun of it, or create a design to fill a specific fabric need that you cannot find elsewhere.

6:30 pm Not Just Another Scrap 'Class'! - Pat Neal
If you are like most quilters, the fabric scraps in your sewing room seem to keep multiplying. This demo will teach you how to make 'new' fabric from all those scraps. Fast and fun!

11:30 am Quilting, Block by Block - Pat Bloomer
Block by block quilting is an easy way to create a large quilt without the hassle of working on one large piece, and it is adaptable for either hand or machine work. Each block is quilted before the whole quilt is assembled. The technique works best on patterns that lend themselves to sashing between the blocks.

1:30 pm Coiled Fabric Bowls - Linda Schiffer
Wondering what to do with all your fabric scraps? In this demo, you will see how easy it is to turn fabric strips into beautiful coiled bowls.

3:30 pm Fabric Postcards - Dede Edwards
Everyone likes to get mail. Fabric postcards are quick and easy. No rules, just your imagination and fabric scraps, embellished or not. And these postcards are just as fun to receive!

In addition, the design adapts itself to other uses, including an innovative way to present gift cards and small presents.
